Are you looking for romantic things to do for couples in Larnaca? Here you can find our ultimate guide and list of romance spots for 1st dates, couples and proposals.
Larnaca is one of the best known for the wild party resort of Ayia Napa, stretching across the southeastern coast of Cyprus. Yet, you’ll find a lot more to the region than its reputation. The calm bays, idyllic countryside and the charming old city make this lovely place in the Mediterranean ideal for romantic getaways.
Couples visiting Larnaca should have no trouble deciding where to stay. The beauty of Nissi Bay is guaranteed to sweep you off your feet. Set in a gorgeous bay washed with turquoise waters, the low-key resort will allow you to enjoy quality time together in tranquil surroundings.
In the evening, dine under the stars at one of the local tavernas or get a taste for the famous nightlife of Ayia Napa, just a few miles up the coast.
Although Nissi Bay boasts one of the most alluring beaches in the Mediterranean, couples may want to track down a more secluded spot to while away the hours. Heading eastwards towards Ayia Napa, Macronissos Beach and Sandy Bay provide quieter alternatives and in the west, beyond Larnaca city, there’s Alaminos beach.
Translated as ‘secret paradise’, this picturesque sandy stretch is well hidden from the roadside.
For a romantic walk in the countryside head out west of Larnaca city to discover an unspoilt hinterland of hill villages befitting of fairy tales. Don’t miss the Neolithic sites at Tenta and Choirokoitia, and the stunning mountaintop Stavrovouni Monastery.
The foothills of the Troödos Mountains, hiding an array of medieval frescoed churches, are also nearby and make another spectacular setting for hiking and picnicking together.
Larnaca’s interior and the Troödos Mountains are also home to sweeping vineyards and some of the finest wineries in Cyprus. Many offer wine tasting experiences, perfect for partners to discover a wine they can both enjoy together. Furthermore, a wine route has been designed to take in three wineries and 11 traditional hillside towns of Larnaca and the northeast Nicosia region.
The captivating old town of Larnaca will make your heart sing. A few steps from the elegant palm tree-lined promenade stands the ancient church Agios Lazaros and the city’s little medieval fort.
Beyond here, lays the quaint Turkish quarter with a variety of craft stores and the magnificent Hala Sultan Tekke mosque, and to the east Larnaca’s collection of museums can be found.

To the west of the city, it’s impossible not to be seduced by Larnaca’s salt lakes. With a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills, mountains and blue skies, it’s an enchanting place to take a stroll and particularly impressive to see at sunset.
The best time of year to visit, however, is in the winter months when thousands of dazzling pink flamingoes and other migratory birds flock to the lake.
Other activities couples can enjoy in Larnaca include:
- Water sports and snorkelling
- Glass bottomed boat trips
- Dolphin watching excursions
- Camel rides in Mazotos Village
